Boudoir actually originated back in the 1920s!

During this decade, it was illegal to have nudity in photographs, but regardless, photographers like Albert Arthur Allen, a French artist, continued to follow his passions & create his artwork. His intimate portraiture subjects were known to be mostly women, especially larger women, who posed in romantic ways against ornate and beautiful backdrops.

Then let's go ahead into the 1940's- Pin up Girls come into the picture! Pin-Ups were known to be delightfully natural and curvy, as popular standards deemed a lack of shape typically undesirable. It was a culture quite different from our more modern (and unrealistic) ideas we've been handed about body shapes and "beauty" standards.

In Between these Eras we have had Gorgeous and Powerful Women pave the road for many of us to be admired and not shamed for our bodies and how we are shaped differently! Women such as Marilyn Monroe, Jane Mansfield, Audrey Hepburn, Jean Harlow, & Even Betty Page ( Yes I'm a total Bettie Page Fan)

These Women showed us all and the world that it is ok to honor our curves, and that our diverse body shapes are flat out Sexy!!

Now we've just entered into 2021

And we have Women like Queen Latifah, Lizzo & Adele taking over the World.

Now a days Boudoir photography is also not only completely accepted, but it is highly known of, encouraged and is known as a way to cherish your body and embrace yourself fully in your journey, exactly as you are!

It is a time that you can carve out to celebrate your unique journey! Something that you can look back on and be proud of, because you did it for yourself. Boudoir is no longer considered Cliché and it can be done for yourself, for a loved one, as a Bridal Gift, as a Birthday Celebration, or just a way to express, remember and cherish yourself in the current moment!!

In a world that often only shows only the thinnest and “most perfect” (cue long eye roll) on TV, in movies and in the top magazines, Boudoir Photography stands out for its true and honest celebration of real Women and their bodies.

It represents all Women at their most vulnerable and their most confident time, which is also one of the most incredibly empowering and exhilarating feelings one can ever experience.

So, get ready to fall in love with yourself- because the time to honor and embrace you & your body just as you are, is finally here!

Women all over the world can now start believing in themselves

They also get to get dolled up if they want & feel great by wearing their favorite lingerie (or not) and having their photographs taken by a Professional. This is really a great way to boost self-esteem, have a bit of fun, or even to treat your other half. The whole purpose of Boudoir Art Photography is that Women should love their bodies, and that feeling sexy shouldn’t just be about pleasing somebody else — it should be about pleasing yourself, and realizing just how valuable you truly are.

This is a cherished & documented moment of your life that you're putting in a time capsule. Have you ever seen the the beginning of the Movie Titanic? Just think about being Rose, and years from now saying,.. "I want to see my Picture." <3

Write that love note to yourself.

For these reasons, I would argue that Boudoir Photography is not only relevant in modern society, but it’s become absolutely essential! In a digital fast paced world, it's now a rare occurrence that we take or make time for ourselves. Never mind taking the time to Printing actual products that could be considered treasured Heirlooms throughout our Family!

It’s a very real outlet where we as Women can learn to feel great about ourselves and become proud of our beautiful bodies.

Boudoir gives women of all shapes and sizes the chance to feel incredible!!

I can promise you one thing, you will never regret taking time for, investing into and truly loving yourself, exactly as you are right now.

Yours Fashionably, Kristin Jean Marie
